Livio Vanghetti currently serves as Director of Communications for Confindustria, the leading organization representing manufacturing and service companies in Italy.
Livio was born in Rome on October 13, 1960. Graduated in law from La Sapienza University of Rome, he began his journalistic career, dedicating himself for almost ten years to covering issues related to the Middle East and Iraq, and then expanding his scope of interest to political and economic issues, both internationally and nationally. His last journalistic assignment was as economic editor-in-chief of Adnkronos, the leading private news agency in Italy.
In 1998, Livio entered the private sector with Philip Morris, before moving to Lottomatica, where he held the position of Vice President of Marketing and Communication, contributing to the company’s leadership in the payment services sector. He then returned to Philip Morris Italy as General Manager in 2005, and from 2007 to 2009 he held the position of General Manager for the Slovak Republic.
From 2009 to 2014, he served as Philip Morris’ Head of Corporate Affairs for the European Union region. Between 2014 and 2017, he was Vice President Corporate Affairs for Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Duty Free, also taking care of the activities in Israel.
In 2017, Livio was appointed Vice President for Global Partnerships and Cooperation, with a focus on transforming the business, aiming for a smoke-free future through the replacement of cigarettes with reduced-risk products.
In addition to his corporate career, he has had significant experience in event management, such as organizing the National Basketball Association tournament in Rome. He has been a member of the board of the Council of the Industrial Union of Rome and has been a member of the advisory board of the Guggenheim Museum in Venice and of the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy.
